About Lalbazar Ayyappa Temple
The Ayyappa Bhaktha Samithi, Lalbazar (Secunderabad) came into being in early 1963 under the presidentship
of late Sri K Kochaiyappan with few ardent devotees of Lord Ayyappa as its members.
The aim of this Samithi was to conduct pooja during the Mandalakalam and thus provide
an opportunity to the devotees of cantonment area and nearby places including the
devotees of Defence Establishment/Units to worship Lord Ayyappa. The initial venue
for the pooja was erstwhile Doddi village (now Subhash Nagar). This pooja site was
subsequently shifted to various places such as premises of Lalbazar Mahankali Temple,
MCEME Hockey Ground, Kendriya Vidyalaya Picket and 91 Meadows Barracks Lalbazar during
the period from 1965 to 1988 due to obvious reasons. The registration of the Samithi
was done in 1983.
